ARB17C - Copper Fixing Band 17mm x 10mm

The Copper Multi-Purpose Fixing Band is a specialised, high-grade solution designed for professionals who require a combination of durability and natural corrosion resistance. Available in both 12mm and 17mm widths, this copper strapping is the ideal choice for securing copper piping, tubes and cables in electrical, plumbing and heating installations.

Supplied in a Natural Bare Copper finish, this band provides excellent longevity and is naturally resistant to the elements. Its material properties make it particularly suited for applications where "electrolytic corrosion" must be avoided - ensuring a safe, chemical neutral contact point when securing copper pipes.

With its signature pliability, the band can be easily manipulated by hand to fit snugly around any profile. It offers a high-melting-point support system that meets strict fire safety regulations for cable management.

Questions & Answers

You can, but you need to be careful. The standard galvanised version will eventually succumb to the elements, especially in coastal areas. For long-term outdoor use, the PPA (plastic) or powder coated band is much better as it shields the steel from direct rain and salt air. If the coating gets nicked, however, the steel underneath can still rust, so it’s worth checking it every few years.

The best way is to use the coated band. This creates a soft buffer between the metal and the cable. If you only have plain band, make sure you don’t over-tighten it, and try to file down any sharp cut ends at the start and finish of the run.

It's much better than galvanised, but 304 can still show "tea staining" or surface rust in heavy salt-air environments. For a truly marine-grade finish, 316 stainless is usually preferred, but for most standard outdoor or damp industrial applications, 304 is perfectly adequate and offers a huge jump in longevity over standard steel.
