SKU: ESP240-16A/BX

ESP240-5A-BX - Enclosed In-Line Protector up to 16A

SKU: ESP240-16A/BX

ESP240-5A-BX - Enclosed In-Line Protector up to 16A

Single Phase, Low Current Boxed SPD - 16A
Combined Type 2 and 3 tested protector (to BS EN 61643) for use on low current (up to 16A) single phase systems to protect connected electronic equipment from transient overvoltages on the mains supply, e.g. fire/intruder alarm panels.  This boxed surge protector is supplied ready to use in an IP66 enclosure, two in-line nylon cable glands and earth stud making it ideal for use in dirty or damp environments.
For use at boundaries LPZ 1 through to LPZ 3 to protect sensitive electronic equipment. Installation Connect in-line with the power supply usually either within the equipment panel (or for CCTV cameras, in an enclosure close by), or on the fused connection that supplies equipment. To protect equipment inside a building from transients entering on an outgoing feed the protector should be installed as close to where the cable leaves the building as possible.

Key Features

  • Very low let-through voltage (enhanced protection to BS EN 62305) between all sets of conductors (phase to neutral, phase to earth, neutral to earth – Full Mode protection) allowing continuous operation of equipment
  • Supplied ready to use in IP66 enclosure
  • Robust housing and substantial earth stud
  • Repeated protection in lightning intense environments
  • Compact size for easy incorporation in the protected system
  • Colour coded terminals give quick and easy installation check – grey for the dirty (line) end and green for the clean end
  • Robust housing and substantial earth stud
  • Maintenance free

Explore Furse® Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) Weatherproof Enclosures, ideal for outdoor or space-limited installations. Provides extra protection for equipment where environmental or enclosure constraints demand robust surge safety

Questions & Answers

To assess the need for surge protection, conduct a risk assessment in accordance with BS EN 62305:2006 Part 2.  Furse provides a bespoke risk assessment software package called StrikeRisk to simplify and speed the process.

Furse® SPDs are designed to protect electrical and electronic systems from transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes, switching operations or parasitic interference. They limit these overvoltages and divert damaging surge currents away from sensitive equipment.

Furse® recommends installing SPDs at the service entrance of a building (Type 1) and at sub-distribution panels (Type 2) to protect against surges from indirect lightning strikes, electrical switching and other sources. Proper installation is essential to safeguard sensitive electronics throughout the facility.
