SKU: 056004A-UN

056004A-UN - CCG E1EX-VX M40 VORTEx Barrier ATEX Gland

The CCG E1EX-VX VORTEx® Barrier Gland for terminating steel wire and aluminium armoured unfilled cables (AWA with Nickel Plated Only) in hazardous environments. Vortex instant mixing, injecting resin has all but eliminated the hassles surrounding the preparation, mixing, and application of compounds/resins in Barrier Glands. The revolutionary VORTEx® Injection Resin system is instantly and 100% accurately mixed whilst being simultaneously injected into the barrier gland in one single action. This reduces the installation time and gives increased confidence in the installation compared to the epoxy putty or sachet mix liquid pour resins.
The Injection resin flows into all the cable voids and interstices, completely filling the cable end. This forms a 100% barrier to any migration of explosive gases or
fluids down the inside of an unfilled hygroscopic cable. VORTEx® barrier glands are tested and fully comply with the latest IEC Ex standards and installation codes of practice.

Key Features

  • VORTEx® liquid resin flows into and fills all the voids in unfilled multi-core cables displacing all air
  • For indoor and outdoor use in hazardous areas
  • Designed for SWA cable terminations in outdoor environments
  • Two-part handling, no loose parts
  • Freely rotating captive cone and inspectable cone ring provides an armour clamp and earth bond
  • Instantly mixed and injected resin forms a 100% barrier seal around the individual cores of the cable
  • Prevents explosive gases and/or liquids from transmitting down the cable
  • Patented disconnect system allows for inspection of armour clamp and inner seal after assembly
  • With a patented Variable Deluge Seal™ as standard

Questions & Answers

Single and double compression cable glands differ in their sealing and clamping mechanisms:

Single Compression Glands: These glands provide compression around the outer sheath of the cable, offering basic sealing and strain relief. They are suitable for indoor/outdoor applications where environmental conditions are controlled.

Double Compression Glands: These glands provide compression at both the outer sheath and the inner bedding layer of the cable. This dual compression offers enhanced sealing and strain relief, making them ideal for outdoor or hazardous environments where additional protection is required.

Yes - Specific types of cable glands are designed for use in hazardous area environments. These glands are constructed to prevent the ingress of flammable gases or dust and are often certified to standards such as ATEX or IECEx, ensuring safety in explosive atmospheres. See CCG Hazardous Area Glands for our full range.

When installing Cable Glands using plain holes and locknuts, the recommended clearance of +0.2 mm above the nominal thread diameter. For example, an M20 gland should be mounted in a 20.2 mm diameter hole. The maximum recommended clearance is +0.7 mm. This ensures a secure fit while allowing easy installation.
