Explore Furse® Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) Weatherproof Enclosures, ideal for outdoor or space-limited installations. Provides extra protection for equipment where environmental or enclosure constraints demand robust surge safety

Questions & Answers

To assess the need for surge protection, conduct a risk assessment in accordance with BS EN 62305:2006 Part 2.  Furse provides a bespoke risk assessment software package called StrikeRisk to simplify and speed the process.

Furse® SPDs are designed to protect electrical and electronic systems from transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes, switching operations or parasitic interference. They limit these overvoltages and divert damaging surge currents away from sensitive equipment.

Furse® recommends installing SPDs at the service entrance of a building (Type 1) and at sub-distribution panels (Type 2) to protect against surges from indirect lightning strikes, electrical switching and other sources. Proper installation is essential to safeguard sensitive electronics throughout the facility.
