Questions & Answers

MICC means Mineral Insulated Copper Clad cable. It consists of copper conductors inside a copper sheath, with the spaces filled by highly compressed magnesium oxide (MgO) insulation. There is no plastic insulation whatsoever.

Because MICC does not burn, emit toxic fumes or degrade as quickly under heat. It provides superior fire survival, mechanical durability, protection against moisture and harsh environments, and long service life. The one true fire survival cable.

MICC operates continuously up to ~250°C. In fire tests it can withstand over 900°C for several hours, continuing to carry current and maintain circuit integrity. The copper sheath melts at ~1083°C.
