The ArmaKit® BWL Low Smoke Cable Gland is a robust brass gland kit built for safe and durable terminations of Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) PVC and Low Smoke (LS) cables. This three-part design is stronger than the standard BW gland, with a longer body that adds extra protection for the cable armour against knocks and impact during and after installation.

This design also helps prevent twisting of the armour wires when tightening, making fitting faster and reducing the risk of damage. The BWL does not include a seal, it is intended for indoor installations in dry, dust-free environments such as distribution boards, switch panels and control cabinets where ingress protection is not required.

Mechanical clamping of the wire armour provides reliable earth continuity and holds the cable firmly in place for a safe, compliant finish. Each ArmaKit® BWL kit comes complete with a low smoke shroud, earth tag and locknut for a tidy installation that limits smoke release in a fire.

Single and double compression cable glands differ in their sealing and clamping mechanisms:

Single Compression Glands: These glands provide compression around the outer sheath of the cable, offering basic sealing and strain relief. They are suitable for indoor/outdoor applications where environmental conditions are controlled.

When installing Cable Glands using plain holes and locknuts, the recommended clearance of +0.2 mm above the nominal thread diameter. For example, an M20 gland should be mounted in a 20.2 mm diameter hole. The maximum recommended clearance is +0.7 mm. This ensures a secure fit while allowing easy installation.
